31 Aug
Summary
- NDMC to launch signature campaign in at least 10 colonies next week.
- Campaign aims to boost compliance with Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
- Residents to pledge for waste segregation and zero-waste culture.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is set to initiate a signature campaign in a minimum of 10 colonies starting next week. This drive aims to foster a zero-waste culture and encourage residents to adhere to waste segregation norms. Officials stated the campaign will emphasize compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
Residents will be prompted to segregate waste into wet, dry, sanitary, and domestic hazardous categories at their source. The initiative also encourages composting of wet waste. NDMC Chairman Manoj Kumar Dwivedi announced the campaign on X, urging a pledge for Swachh Bharat and a zero-waste lifestyle. The effort seeks to make waste management a routine practice rather than just an awareness activity.
Additionally, the NDMC is running a 'Roko Toko, Swachhata Ko Badhao' campaign in markets, where Palika Sahayaks encourage proper waste disposal. The civic body is also addressing the need for improved public and community toilets within its jurisdiction, with work underway to enhance their upkeep and functionality. The BRICS summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 12-13.
