Construction on Annapolis's new ADA-compliant floating dock in Eastport is scheduled to begin on Monday. This project, located at the end of 6th Street on Back Creek, is anticipated to be finished within three weeks.
The Eastport Floating Dock represents a significant investment, costing $440,000. Funding for this initiative comes from a $350,000 grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources State Waterway Improvement program, supplemented by $65,000 from Annapolis bonds and $25,000 from capital reserves.
Upon completion, the Eastport dock will bring the total number of ADA-accessible floating piers and marinas in Annapolis to three. This addition aims to increase recreational access, complementing existing facilities like the Annapolis Adaptive Boating Center and the Truxtun Park Boat Ramp.
