While on patrol in the Arabian Sea, a Yellow Gate police team discovered a large loggerhead sea turtle in distress. The turtle, weighing more than 100 kilograms, was found struggling to swim and float.
The police officers promptly rescued the animal and brought it ashore. They then contacted the Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) for assistance. Wildlife rescuers and veterinarians provided immediate examination and treatment to stabilize the turtle's condition.
Due to the lack of specialized sea turtle facilities in Mumbai, the loggerhead is being transferred to the Sea Turtle Transit Treatment Center in Dahanu. This center is managed by the Wildlife Conservation and Animal Welfare Association (WCAWA) in collaboration with forest officials and RAWW for ongoing rehabilitation.
