Mumbai Breathes Easy: MMR's Cleanest Air This June
28 Jun
Summary
- Mumbai recorded eight days with 'good' air quality.
- Thane lagged with only three days of 'good' air quality.
- PM10 was the primary pollutant in Thane and Navi Mumbai.

Mumbai recorded the cleanest air in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) for most of June, despite monsoon clouds. The city logged eight days with 'good' air quality (AQI 0-50). This contrasts with Thane, which had only three 'good' air days, though it maintained a consistent 'satisfactory' AQI for 24 days. Navi Mumbai followed closely behind Mumbai with seven 'good' air days.
Despite fluctuations, none of the three cities breached 'moderate' or 'poor' air quality thresholds during this summer-monsoon transition. PM10 was the dominant pollutant in Thane and Navi Mumbai for 26 days. Mumbai, however, experienced varied pollutants including PM10, ozone, and NO2, influenced by industrial and vehicular emissions.
