Mowbray Park in East Brisbane is undergoing a significant transformation, with Brisbane City Council finalizing upgrade plans. Tendering for the project is scheduled for October 7, with construction expected to begin in mid-2027. The revitalized park will feature a new village green, bandstand, enhanced lighting, shared pathways, and a terraced amphitheatre.
The car park will be relocated closer to Lytton Road, creating more parkland with river views. Additionally, the existing croquet clubhouse, playground, and picnic areas will be upgraded. The council also plans to fund a new 1.2-kilometer cycling and pedestrian path linked to the park, connecting existing routes to the city.
Past upgrades to Mowbray Park include the ferry terminal in December 2025 and the removal of the former bowls club a year prior. Councillor Tracy Davis emphasized the park's historical significance and the upgrade's role in fostering community connection. The estimated cost for the overhaul has not been disclosed.
