25 Sep
Summary
- Bull moose are traveling into communities during fall breeding season.
- Multiple moose sightings occurred in Victoria Harbour and Collingwood.
- A 600-pound bull moose was successfully tranquilized and relocated.

The autumn breeding season has prompted bull moose to travel significant distances, bringing them into developed areas and communities. This phenomenon was observed over the past week with multiple moose sightings reported in the region. Residents in Victoria Harbour recently encountered a moose, and another was seen in Collingwood.
Authorities collaborated to manage these unusual appearances. In Collingwood, the OPP and Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) worked together to relocate a moose to a more suitable habitat. Similarly, a bull moose that likely traveled from Victoria Harbour to Midland was captured and relocated north by the MNR and Huronia Animal Control. This particular bull moose was estimated to weigh around 600 pounds.
