The Moodbidri Koti Chennaya Jodukare Kambala, scheduled for January 31, is being organized as a comprehensive zero-waste event. This initiative, supported by the Moodbidri Town Municipal Council (TMC), continues the Kambala's commitment to sustainability established in the 2022-23 season. Attendees are encouraged to participate by bringing their own cloth bags, food containers, and water bottles, while opting for biodegradable alternatives for single-use items.
TMC stalls will highlight waste management technologies, including composting wet waste and dry waste segregation. Demonstrations on rainwater harvesting and the sale of processed manure will also be featured. A unique snake-and-ladder game designed to educate children about dry waste management will be available. The venue will be declared a plastic-free zone, with ample waste bins for proper segregation and disposal.
Arrangements are being made for food to be served on banana leaves and areca plates. Approximately one lakh people are anticipated at the event. Social media teams will be present to gather feedback and promote Swachh Survekshan, emphasizing citizen involvement. Collaborations with various organizations like Rotary Club Moodbiri and Netaji Brigade Moodbidiri are supporting the zero-waste efforts.
