Mizoram is set to collaborate with Israel to bolster its water sector. This partnership aims to enhance critical areas such as safe drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, water source conservation, and environmental protection.
The exploration of this collaboration occurred during a meeting in New Delhi between Mizoram's Public Health Engineering Minister, Prof. Lalnilawma, and Neeraj Gahlawat, a senior water resources specialist from Mashav, Israel's agency for international development cooperation.
During the meeting, Prof. Lalnilawma extended an invitation for Mashav officials to visit Mizoram. This visit would allow them to assess the state's water situation firsthand and identify immediate opportunities for practical cooperation.
The discussions underscored a mutual interest in strengthening cooperation under the India-Israel development cooperation program. Israel expressed keenness to share its advanced water management technologies and expertise, mirroring successful initiatives implemented with the Indian central government and other states.
