On October 3rd, 2025, Vietnamese authorities in Vinh Long province made a significant bust in the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking. They seized over 7 metric tons (15,000 pounds) of prohibited animal products, ranging from pangolin scales and python skins to animal bile and fish gills.
The two smugglers, one from Vietnam and one from Indonesia, were apprehended but could not provide any documentation for the vast array of protected animal parts they were transporting on their boats. The haul included more than 4.2 tons of suspected pangolin scales, 150 python skins, 40 kilograms of animal bile, and various other animal remains such as bird beaks, animal bones, and unidentified hides.
