As part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) recently captivated audiences with a flash mob event. Held on the port premises and at City Centre Mall in Mangaluru, the performance aimed to instill a sense of collective responsibility for cleanliness and proper waste management.
NMPA personnel delivered an engaging presentation combining music, dance, and a Yakshagana performance. This initiative extended the message of swachhata beyond the port's boundaries, reaching employees, stakeholders, and the general public. The fortnight-long campaign includes diverse activities, such as cleanliness drives, beach clean-ups, and educational workshops.
Further activities encompass awareness campaigns against single-use plastics, visits to a vermi-compost unit for schoolchildren, and art-from-waste workshops. The initiative also features 'wealth out of waste' activities, a swachhata rath rally, and workshops focused on upcycling scrap materials, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to environmental stewardship.
