On November 9th, 2025, the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) kicked off its "Green Wall Initiative" to boost the city's green cover and tackle pollution. The first phase of this project involved a large-scale plantation drive at the Nawada Cricket Ground in Sector 86, where around 500 saplings of native and pollution-resistant species like Neem were planted.
The event saw participation from local residents, community organizations, and corporate volunteers. MCM is collaborating with the Green Pencil Foundation and corporate partners under CSR programs to ensure the long-term survival and growth of these trees. The goal is to transform underutilized spaces into green buffers that can absorb dust, reduce carbon emissions, and improve air quality in Manesar.
According to MCM officials, this initiative is part of a continuous urban greening project that aims to plant over 100,000 saplings across the city. The Deputy Mayor praised the effort, stating that the time to act is now as pollution levels in Gurugram and Manesar have been steadily rising. Experts believe this model could become a blueprint for combating pollution in other parts of the region.
