Mandapathur: Unmet Infrastructure Plagues 150 Families

Mandapathur fishing village in Karaikal is grappling with severe infrastructure deficiencies, impacting approximately 150 families. Residents lack adequate road access, leading to difficulties in commuting, especially during emergencies and bad weather. Public transport is also a major concern, with no direct bus service to Karaikal, forcing villagers to incur high costs for alternative transport.

The village faces critical issues with drinking water quality, as supplied water contains visible black particles, raising health alarms. The absence of a sewage canal results in stagnant wastewater, compromising hygiene. Furthermore, over eight old and structurally weak electric poles pose a constant threat of collapse, particularly during strong winds.

Official sources have indicated that road relaying works are underway and expected to conclude within 15 days. Authorities have also stated they will investigate the other pressing issues raised by the villagers.
