A harrowing encounter in Bienfait, Saskatchewan, saw a son physically confront a starving moose that attacked his mother. The cold and emaciated animal had sought refuge near a dryer vent when it turned on Angie Tuffnell.
Her son, Shawn Tuffnell, intervened, first by punching the moose and then using a shovel. The struggle escalated as the moose pursued Shawn into his home. He eventually subdued the animal by wrestling it into a headlock.
The ordeal concluded when Shawn used a rifle to shoot the moose multiple times, finally killing it after approximately 15 shots. A subsequent wildlife examination confirmed the moose died from starvation, with no fat reserves, and was not diseased.
