On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, a Lucknow-based social organization named Panchtatva launched a significant environmental initiative. Volunteers distributed over 45,000 eco-friendly green leaf plates and 5,000 saplings across the city. This effort sought to promote sustainable development and discourage the use of plastic.
The distribution coincided with Bada Mangal festivities, where saplings were offered to devotees as sacred gifts. Environmental activist Shipra Pathak urged the public to nurture these saplings for future generations, highlighting their contribution to clean oxygen and ecological balance. The campaign successfully averted the use of approximately 8,000 plastic plates.
Senior activist Krishna Gopal of the RSS also participated, endorsing the integration of environmental conservation with religious events. Panchtatva's goal extends to fostering a deeper reverence for nature among the populace, with support from various social and voluntary organizations bolstering the conservation movement.
