Summary

- She was found on Dunwich beach in Suffolk in February.
- Betty will be released into the Azores later this month.
A loggerhead turtle, now known as Betty, is set to be released back into the ocean later this month after a seven-month rehabilitation period. Betty was discovered "cold-stunned" on Dunwich beach in Suffolk in February by a member of the public who reported her to the British Divers Marine Life Rescue. This condition occurs when rapid temperature drops make turtles lethargic and can be fatal.
She was subsequently transferred to Hunstanton Sea Life Centre in Norfolk, where she has been recovering. Coincidentally, another loggerhead turtle, named Olive, has also been under care at the same centre since December. Both Betty and Olive are scheduled to travel to the Azores for their release, marking an emotional moment for their caretakers.
