A 14-year-old boy, Raj Kamal Singh, was fatally attacked by a leopard near Khairatiya village in Uttar Pradesh's Dudhwa buffer zone. The incident occurred Monday night, just a few meters from the railway station. The leopard dragged the boy into nearby fields after the attack.
His body was discovered Tuesday morning by family and villagers near a hutment by the railway track. Forest officials confirmed the attack, citing pugmarks at the scene. The area is known for wildlife movement, with chain-link fencing previously helping to prevent casualties.
Kirti Chaudhari, deputy director of the Dudhwa buffer zone, stated the boy was killed while near the Mohana river. She assured a postmortem examination and compensation for the family according to regulations. Locals protested, demanding monetary compensation, jobs, and the fencing of the entire area to mitigate future risks.
