Recent wildlife attacks in Bahraich's Katarniaghat Wildlife Division have caused significant alarm among communities residing near forest fringes. Two separate incidents, one in the Dharmapur range and another in Motipur, resulted in the deaths of a woman and an eight-year-old boy. These events have prompted heightened vigilance from forest authorities.
Field Director H Raja Mohan of the Katarniaghat Wildlife Division confirmed that departmental teams are actively monitoring the situation in affected areas. Approximately 15 villages have been advised to remain cautious, particularly when entering fields or forest peripheries. This latest series of attacks exacerbates existing concerns, as over 500 villages in Moradabad and Bijnor districts have already been on high alert due to previous leopard incidents.
