Tiger Safaris Get 40% Price Hike in Karnataka

Safari excursions in Karnataka's Bandipur and Nagarahole tiger reserves are becoming more expensive, with tariffs increasing by approximately 40% starting September 1, 2026. The revised rates, approved in July 2026, were postponed from an August implementation.

These adjustments are attributed to changes in safari duration and distance, alongside rising operational costs like employee salaries and fuel. The forest department stated that revised tariffs consider these increased expenses.

Each safari trip will now extend from 1.5 hours to 2.5-3 hours, and the distance covered will increase from 15-20km to 30-35km. This change aims to reduce the number of safari vehicles within the reserves, minimizing disturbance to wildlife as per state government directives.

The new tariffs apply to safaris operating from Melukamanahalli in Bandipur and Kakanakote, Veeranahosahalli, and Nanachi gates in Nagarahole. Camera and parking charges have also been updated, with an 18% GST applicable.
