The 12th Karnataka Bird Festival is scheduled to be held in Mangaluru from January 9 to 11, marking a significant event for bird lovers and conservationists. This festival, last hosted in Mangaluru in 2018, brings together participants to explore the rich avian life of the region.
Dakshina Kannada boasts approximately 420 bird species, with around 40 being migratory, highlighting its ecological importance. The festival will see 250 participants, including students, divided into teams to cover 12 distinct locations like coasts and wetlands.
Distinguished guests, including Speaker U.T. Khader and Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, will attend the inauguration on January 9 at Bharat Scouts and Guides Bhavan, Pilikula. The White Bellied Sea Eagle will serve as the festival's mascot, symbolizing its connection to the coastal environment.
