8 Sep
Summary
- Kanpur's air quality is categorized as 'good' with an AQI of 47.
- Carbon monoxide and particulate matter were identified as primary pollutants.
- Most Indian cities monitored also showed 'good' air quality.
On Monday, Kanpur experienced 'good' air quality, with its Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at a healthy 47. This level suggests minimal adverse effects of air pollutants on the city's residents. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board revealed that carbon monoxide and particulate matter were the main pollutants contributing to the air quality readings. The report utilized data from three of Kanpur's four monitoring stations.
Nationally, the Prana portal indicated that a majority of the 237 monitored cities also fell within the 'good' AQI category. Sri Ganganagar was an exception, noted as the sole city in the 'poor' category with an AQI of 276, primarily due to PM10 pollutants.
