As of June 12, 2026, over 380 daily heat records have been matched or surpassed nationwide, with temperatures soaring above 100°F in several states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas, and Wyoming. Notably, Homestead, Florida, recorded its highest-ever June temperature at 109°F.
Concurrently, significant portions of the Western United States have reported unseasonably cold weather. Numerous locations have experienced temperatures falling below freezing, setting new historic low records for June. These new records range from 30°F down to an astonishing 17°F, significantly below their typical June averages.
