The first recipients are expected to be revealed at the Starmus VIII festival, scheduled to take place in Tenerife and La Palma from October 17-22 next year. Starmus co-founder Garik Israelian mentioned the medal might include multiple categories, similar to the Stephen Hawking medal for science communication previously created by the festival. The festival's theme for next year, "the search for truth," addresses growing concerns about misinformation, particularly in critical areas like climate science.
