Water Woes: Jagatpura Residents Protest Scarcity
26 May
Summary
- Protest held over persistent water shortage and irregular supply.
- Summer heat has worsened the existing long-standing issue.
- Residents demand immediate action and long-term solutions.

Residents in Jaipur's Jagatpura area, specifically Kundanpura, Indira Gandhi Nagar, and Basant Vihar, staged a protest on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, highlighting their ongoing struggle with severe water shortages.
The demonstration, involving around 150 individuals and led by former councillor Chhotu Ram Meena, saw participants voicing their demands for immediate governmental intervention. The scarcity, a long-standing issue, has been exacerbated by the current summer heat.
Many households are experiencing drastically reduced water pressure or a complete lack of supply, significantly disrupting daily routines and compelling families to seek water from private tankers. This erratic supply has made managing household chores extremely difficult for residents like Rekha Devi and Mahesh Gurjar.
Women are reportedly bearing the brunt of the water crisis, with a substantial part of their day dedicated to securing water for their families. Pooja Meena highlighted the suffering of children and the elderly due to the shortage.
Following the protest, the residents submitted a memorandum to the Sanganer Sub-Divisional Magistrate, urging for a regular water supply and a sustainable, long-term resolution to the persistent problem.
