Summary
- Itanagar mandates sky blue shutters for all shops.
- Order aims to enhance city aesthetics and organization.
- Shops must also display trade licence numbers prominently.

The Itanagar Municipal Corporation has issued a directive for all shop owners and business establishments to paint their shutters and facades a uniform sky blue. This order, which came into effect recently with a one-month compliance deadline, is part of a vision to improve the city's visual character and create a more organized marketplace.
The initiative seeks to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Itanagar, fostering a vibrant urban environment and controlling unauthorized advertisements. In addition to the sky blue colour scheme, shop owners are required to prominently display their IMC-registered trade licence numbers on their shutters.
Furthermore, the corporation has also stipulated the use of colour-coded bins for waste segregation: green for food waste, blue for recyclables, red for sanitary waste, and black for hazardous materials. Actions will be taken against non-compliant businesses, as the IMC believes this 'colourful' effort will build a cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing Itanagar and strengthen its unique identity.
