Isle of Wight Traffic Alert: A3020 Disruption Until April
14 Jan
Summary
- A3020 Horsebridge Hill will be a one-way system until mid-April.
- Southern Water is replacing a 500m stretch of aging water mains.
- Residents may face up to four hours without water during connections.

A significant route on the Isle of Wight, the A3020 Horsebridge Hill, will be subject to a temporary one-way system from January 26th until approximately April 17th. This measure is to facilitate essential work by Southern Water, involving the replacement of a 500m section of aging water mains with new plastic pipes on the edge of Newport.
The planned work will restrict traffic flow, prohibiting access from Newport towards Cowes. While buses and emergency vehicles will be able to navigate the site using traffic light control, the general public is urged to prepare for potential delays and reroute where possible. The previous roadworks on this route, for a housing development junction, concluded in July.
Residents in the immediate vicinity of the replacement pipes may experience service interruptions lasting up to four hours while connections are made to the new system. Southern Water assures that affected households will receive at least 48 hours' notice prior to any supply disruption, with work scheduled between 08:00 and 17:00.
