29 Sep
Summary
- Waste collection to cover all 610 villages in Indore district.
- Villages will be organized into 56 clusters for efficient management.
- Groundwater recharge systems will be installed in government buildings.
Indore district is set to implement door-to-door waste collection across its 610 villages, extending the city's robust waste management infrastructure to rural areas. This significant expansion was finalized during a District Water and Sanitation Mission meeting.
The 610 villages will be strategically divided into 56 operational clusters. This clustering, operating under a public-private partnership model, will facilitate structured waste collection, transportation, and scientific processing in compliance with Solid Waste Management Rules 2026. Collector Shivam Verma has urged officials to expedite the implementation of this action plan.
Beyond waste management, the district administration is also mandating the installation of water recharge systems in all government buildings and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana housing units. Progress on the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan and Pradhan Mantri Jal Jeevan Mission was also reviewed, with departments directed to sustain groundwater recharge efforts concurrently with the rural waste collection drive.
