Organized under the GEF Small Grants Programme, the conference aimed to bridge community-led practices with formal policy. Projects discussed have already restored over 2,800 hectares of land and brought 11,000 beneficiaries, including 61% farmers, into improved management practices.
Discussions emphasized the role of traditional wisdom in conservation and climate resilience. Specific interventions have led to the addition of 182 kW of renewable solar capacity across 250 villages in 11 districts. Experts highlighted the value of indigenous knowledge for wildlife harmony and integrating nature's carrying capacity into economic theories.
The event also featured an exhibition showcasing diverse indigenous products and sustainable technologies, promoting a holistic approach to environmental challenges.
