Uttarakhand is bracing for significant weather events, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on September 27. This severe forecast has led to the suspension of the Char Dham Yatra for two days.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Himachal Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh, indicated by an orange alert. Meanwhile, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh may experience isolated heavy rainfall.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of up to 50 kmph are predicted for several regions on September 27. The IMD has also issued warnings for squally winds in the Arabian Sea.
Looking ahead, heavy rainfall is expected to continue in various parts of the country through September 30 and into early October, affecting states like Assam, Meghalaya, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe.
