The Indian subcontinent is currently under the influence of an active southwest monsoon, bringing significant rainfall to various regions. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also bracing for intense showers, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall expected between June 27 and June 29.
Conditions are favorable for the monsoon to expand further into Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in the coming days. Delhi is expected to experience light rain and thunderstorms on Friday, accompanied by gusty winds. Southern India, including Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Coastal Karnataka, will see widespread rainfall, while Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and interior Karnataka are likely to witness thunderstorms.
Despite the widespread monsoon activity, heatwave conditions are set to persist over East Uttar Pradesh, with severe heatwaves in isolated pockets until June 27. Jharkhand is also under a heatwave warning for Friday. The weather office continues to monitor the monsoon's progression and its impact across the country.
