The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit, commencing June 1-3, 2026, in Delhi, will introduce the 'Delhi Declaration.' This pioneering global statement seeks to consolidate conservation priorities and foster transboundary cooperation for big cats. The declaration will emphasize a landscape-based approach to protect these species and their habitats.
Approximately 95 countries are anticipated to send representatives to the summit. The IBCA comprises nations with significant populations of lions, tigers, leopards, snow leopards, cheetahs, jaguars, and pumas, committed to their preservation. Member countries will coordinate efforts through various programs focusing on habitat improvement, prey management, and direct conservation initiatives.
The summit's guiding theme is 'Save Big Cats, Save Humanity, Save Ecosystem.' It is poised to gather over 400 delegates, including heads of state, environment ministers, conservation experts, scientists, and corporate leaders. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2023, the IBCA, an India-piloted initiative, underscores the nation's commitment to collective action in conservation.
