Hyderabad's urban landscape is set to be enhanced with the near completion of three significant lake development projects by HYDRAA. These initiatives have transformed former sewage and garbage dumps into thriving recreational spots.
Sunnam Cheruvu Lake, located at Guttala Begumpet, is slated for inauguration by the end of September. This lake, once a 13-acre site for sewage and waste, has been restored to its original 30-acre expanse, featuring beautified surroundings and a viewpoint.
Further developments include Nalla Cheruvu in Uppal, which will be open to the public within two months after being expanded to 67.31 acres and gaining a 2.4-kilometer walking track. Thammidikunta, a 30-acre lake, has also seen extensive cleanup and development, including the removal of bio-waste and sewage.
These projects, despite facing legal challenges and the removal of encroachments, are poised to offer significant recreational benefits. HYDRAA's efforts ensure these water bodies are no longer environmental hazards but valuable community assets.
