Miyapur Dump: Residents Gagging on Garbage

A substantial garbage dump situated on the Miyapur-Bachupally stretch near Hyderabad has become a pressing concern for local residents and daily commuters. The accumulation of mixed waste, including plastics and food scraps, has transformed a busy connecting road into an unsightly area, negatively impacting the rapidly growing residential neighborhood. Residents report a persistent foul odor, which intensifies after rainfall and in the evenings, making passage through the area difficult. The situation is further complicated by stray animals and cattle that frequently tear open garbage bags, dispersing waste onto the road. Officials from the Miyapur circle of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation cited land disputes as the reason for their inability to erect fencing around the plot, which allows for continuous dumping. Periodic clean-up efforts have proven ineffective as waste quickly piles up again, prompting calls from residents for stricter enforcement against illegal dumping and a permanent resolution to the sanitation issue before it escalates into a public health crisis. The affected road is a crucial corridor connecting commuters to ORR exits 4 and 4A.
