Summary
- Residents report sewage inflow, foul odors, and mosquito issues around lakes.
- HYDRAA Commissioner addressed grievances from 36 complainants on Saturday.
- HYDRAA sealed two buildings on public utility land after fake document claims.

Residents from across the city expressed alarm on Saturday regarding sewage contamination of lakes, leading to foul odors and a surge in mosquito populations. During a phone-in program, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath engaged directly with complainants, assuring them that officials have been tasked to resolve these pressing environmental issues within a week.
The agency's jurisdiction, however, was clarified to be limited to areas within the Outer Ring Road. HYDRAA has initiated lake development in phases, with 14 more slated for improvement. Many grievances centered on encroachments of lakes, parks, and public lands, with specific complaints from Gagillapur and Attapur detailing illegal plotting and land grabbing.
