The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) is poised to dramatically enhance its stray dog population management with a new Animal Birth Control (ABC) program. A dedicated sterilization center has been established in Shivalli village, near Hubballi, to considerably increase the number of daily surgical procedures.
This new facility, spread over nearly 380 square meters, is specifically designed for sterilization and includes pre- and post-operative care areas. The infrastructure aims to streamline the entire process, from animal admission to recovery, ensuring better welfare. Supporting amenities like water supply, a doctor's cabin, and kennels are also in place.
HDMC Commissioner Rudresh Ghali confirmed the Shivalli facility's construction is complete, awaiting formal inauguration. The center is expected to enable the ABC program's implementation on a much larger scale, marking a significant civic intervention for scientific stray dog control and public health improvement.
