Bayou Homeowners Get Sewer Repair Funds
2 Jul
Summary
- Homeowners in four parishes may get funds for sewer system issues.
- Grant funding from EPA, universities, and local programs is available.
- Reimbursements can cover repairs, replacements, and pump-out expenses.

Homeowners in parts of Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, and Terrebonne parishes not connected to a public sewer system might qualify for reimbursement for necessary home sewer system repairs or replacements. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial strain of maintaining failing systems while simultaneously safeguarding local bayous and surrounding communities.
Grant funding is being provided through a collaboration involving the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium, the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program, and the South Central Planning and Development Commission. Funds are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis until depleted. Eligible homeowners must permit a free on-site inspection, and if repairs are needed, they will be referred to a licensed contractor. Reimbursement is issued after a final inspection confirms the work is completed.
