Road Chaos: Drain Work Clogs Heber Road
23 Feb
Summary
- Heber Road near District Court Roundabout is partially closed.
- Drainage reconstruction is causing severe traffic congestion.
- Work is expected to finish within two days.

Motorists are facing significant traffic congestion on Heber Road near the District Court Roundabout due to the partial closure of entry and exit points. The disruption is facilitating the reconstruction of storm-water drains adjacent to Parangiri Velu Park. Tiruchi Corporation commenced work on February 19 to address a malfunctioning drain that had been causing persistent seepage in the vicinity.
Officials explained that the existing culvert was insufficient for the increased water volume, leading to seepage. The reconstruction aims to improve drainage capacity along Bharathidasan Road towards the district court. Authorities are expediting the process, anticipating completion within two days, given the high volume of vehicular traffic on this route. Police have deployed barricades to manage traffic flow, but many commuters report confusion and prolonged delays, particularly during morning and evening rush hours.
