Regions such as Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, and Karnataka are particularly vulnerable, with forecasts of very heavy rainfall at isolated places. The western Himalayan region, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are anticipated to experience widespread rain. Delhi can expect light to moderate showers throughout the day.
Eastern India is also under a heavy rain alert, with Odisha bracing for very heavy downpours. Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive heavy showers. Gusty winds of up to 60 kmph are also predicted for Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha are forecast to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
In southern India, coastal and south interior Karnataka are anticipated to receive very heavy rain, alongside heavy showers in north interior Karnataka, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Mahe. Thunderstorms with gusts up to 60 kmph may occur in parts of Karnataka, Kerala, and coastal Andhra Pradesh. The Konkan and Goa region, including Mumbai, will see widespread rain with isolated heavy showers, and Madhya Maharashtra could experience very heavy rainfall. Gujarat is also expecting heavy rain in parts.
Advisory for maritime activities includes squally winds of 50-60 kmph, gusting to 70 kmph, expected over the northwest Bay of Bengal and along the coasts of Odisha, West Bengal, and north Andhra Pradesh until Tuesday morning. Fishermen are strongly advised against venturing into these sea areas until the morning of July 29, 2026.
