5 Jan
Summary
- Pollution Board chief ordered strict action against illegal waste dumping.
- Focus on cleaning Badshahpur drain and other key drains.
- Directive issued to increase sewer connections and use treated water.

A high-level meeting chaired by Yogesh Kumar, member secretary of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, in Gurugram focused on critical environmental action plans. Discussions centered on making key drains, including parts of the Badshahpur drain and drains in Jhajjar district, pollution-free. Kumar emphasized strict timelines and measurable outcomes for all approved measures.
Significant concern was raised regarding the illegal discharge of sewer waste into open areas and drains by tanker operators within Gurugram. Police have been instructed to take stringent actions, including challans and FIRs, to deter such violations. Standard operating procedures for sewage treatment plants (STPs) must be adhered to, with on-ground verification and detailed reports required.
