Sewage Plants Fail Yamuna Clean-Up Test
7 May
Summary
- Haryana pollution board inspected seven sewage treatment plants.
- Untreated wastewater discharge detected at two housing projects.
- Tests are pending; further action will be based on lab analysis.

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board conducted inspections on Wednesday at sewage treatment plants (STPs) across seven group housing projects situated along the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram. These inspections were conducted to ensure adherence to environmental regulations pertinent to the Yamuna Action Plan.
During the assessment, officials observed instances of untreated wastewater bypassing at two separate housing projects, located in Sector 107 and Sector 102. Samples were collected from the inlet and outlet points of the STPs at all inspected locations for laboratory analysis.
Authorities stated that subsequent actions would be determined based on the outcomes of these laboratory tests. A show-cause notice had already been issued on May 1, 2025, to M/s Cogent Realtors Private Limited concerning a violation. These ongoing monitoring efforts are crucial for identifying pollution sources and reducing the contamination of the Yamuna River.
