Gurugram: Sector 14 Battles Illegal Dumping Crisis
27 May
Summary
- Illegal dumping plagues vacant plots and open spaces in Sector 14.
- Door-to-door garbage collection remains inconsistent, collected every other day.
- Civic body plans a five-year tender to improve garbage collection services.

Residents in Gurugram's Sector 14 are voicing significant concerns over escalating issues of illegal dumping and inadequate sanitation. Open spaces and vacant plots have become notorious dumping grounds for garbage and debris, particularly along the Sector 14 market road and near Payal Cinemas. This persistent problem has led to widespread frustration among the local populace.
Compounding the issue, door-to-door garbage collection has experienced a period of inconsistency, with waste now being collected only on alternate days. While this has improved from a worse situation in April and early May, residents find the current intermittent service unsatisfactory.
In response, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has initiated a five-year tender for door-to-door garbage collection. Officials stated that ground-level monitoring will be crucial as efforts are underway to optimize the system and bring about noticeable improvements for residents. Additionally, roadside dust accumulation, contributing to pollution, is also being addressed through ongoing cleanup initiatives.
