Gurugram's civic body is enhancing surveillance across the city as part of its Swachh Gurugram campaign to curb violations like littering and illegal dumping. This intensified action has led to significant revenue generation through penalties. In 2025, a total of 3,980 challans were issued, bringing in ₹87.34 lakh.
As of 2026, the campaign has continued with 953 challans issued, generating ₹14.08 lakh. Enforcement teams are actively inspecting residential areas, markets, and construction sites, imposing fines for improper garbage disposal, construction waste management, and open burning. Officials stress that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility, requiring both strict enforcement and active citizen participation.
The Municipal Commissioner urged residents and shopkeepers to utilize designated disposal systems and install dustbins, highlighting that open garbage disposal harms public health. While enforcement continues, officials acknowledge that achieving full compliance remains a challenge.
