9 Feb
Summary
- Gurugram aims for a 10% reduction in PM10 and PM2.5 by 2026.
- Over 600 km of roads to be redeveloped to tackle road dust.
- New plan enhances public transport and traffic management systems.

Gurugram's administration has initiated its 2026 action plan to combat air pollution, aiming for a minimum 10% reduction in PM10 and PM2.5 levels by the year's end. This plan, finalized in December last year, will be implemented through various short and long-term measures. Authorities are focusing on enhancing public transportation by expanding the city bus fleet, including electric buses, and improving EV charging facilities. To address traffic congestion, 33 hotspots have been identified for intervention, with proposed infrastructure upgrades like flyovers. Construction and demolition waste management will be improved with new processing units and mandatory use of recycled materials. Over 600 km of roads will be redeveloped to mitigate road dust. Additionally, an integrated traffic management system is being expanded with 2,722 cameras to monitor traffic and potentially other urban issues. The plan's success relies on close inter-agency coordination and monthly progress monitoring.
