Gurgaon Officials Ordered to Immediately Remove Garbage Trolleys Amid Sanitation Crisis
27 Jul
Summary
- Gurgaon's public spaces have turned into dump yards
- State government is "done with excuses" and will not tolerate filth
- Officials ordered to deploy 10 additional garbage collection vehicles in 3 days
The Haryana government has taken strict action to address the mounting waste problem in Gurgaon. On Sunday, the urban local bodies (ULB) department secretary Vikas Gupta directed the immediate removal of garbage trolleys from all major and sector-dividing roads in the city.
Chairing an emergency meeting, Gupta issued an aggressive cleanup plan with tight deadlines. He sternly rebuked civic officials, saying "Gurgaon's public spaces have turned into dump yards and the government knows it." The state government has now run out of patience with "excuses" and will not tolerate the filth in one of Haryana's flagship cities.
Gupta ordered each officer to deploy 10 additional garbage collection vehicles within the next three days, with no delays allowed. He also mandated the installation of GPS in all garbage trucks to prevent lapses and fake reporting. Officials from the local government, including the MLA, divisional commissioner, deputy commissioner, municipal commissioner, and mayor, were all put on notice to deliver "visible results on the ground within days, not weeks."
