The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is preparing to onboard a Project Management Unit (PMU) to enhance the oversight of its urban and industrial sectors. A key responsibility for this unit will be strengthening pollution control measures. Bids for this consultancy are due by October 14, with proposals opening the following day.
The selected consultant will station eight full-time specialists at GNIDA offices. Their primary role will be to evaluate and improve existing pollution monitoring mechanisms, aligning them with guidelines from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). This team will also track the execution of pollution-control action plans and ensure adherence to all statutory requirements.
Greater Noida's air quality saw some fluctuations, with its AQI rising to 171 from 150. This initiative by GNIDA aims to comprehensively manage environmental concerns across its 95 sectors and 124 villages. The PMU will also assist in planning, procurement, project monitoring, and execution, alongside building institutional capacity.
The hired experts are expected to be in place within a month of the agreement signing. The initial contract is for two years and may be extended for an additional two years based on the team's performance. This strategic hiring underscores GNIDA's commitment to improving environmental conditions and overall urban management.
