- Registration, fees, and facility rules are now standardized.
Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has established guidelines for a comprehensive digital waste monitoring system. This initiative, set to launch on the online portal "Digital Waste Monitoring System," aims to regulate bulk waste generators, collectors, and transporters. The system aligns with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, and will operate on a revenue-sharing model.
The framework details infrastructural and siting requirements for waste storage and material recovery facilities. These include concrete working areas, covered premises, and adherence to setback distances. The Goa Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act, 1996, mandates digital registration for various waste management entities.
Registration is categorized into six types, including bulk waste generators and recyclers. A structured fee mechanism featuring registration, annual portal, and transaction fees is introduced. Applicants must submit detailed documentation relevant to their category, ensuring transparency and accountability in waste management operations.
