Futala Fountain Gets Pure Water for Mist System
8 Sep
Summary
- Treated water pipeline will supply mist systems, not main jets.
- Pure water prevents nozzle clogging from lake impurities.
- Past issues with lake water quality affected fountain equipment.
Treated drinking water from a new 500mm pipeline near Futala lake will exclusively supply the mist systems at MahaMetro's viewing gallery. This clean water is essential because the mist nozzles have small openings, which can easily get clogged by impurities found in Futala lake water. Using lake water could lead to frequent maintenance or replacements of these delicate components.
This initiative addresses previous technical issues where the Futala fountain suffered damage from poor lake-water quality. In 2023, algae growth and pollution negatively impacted underwater electrical wiring, pumps, and other equipment. MahaMetro is currently undertaking restoration, installing new cables and pump components, and completing the tensile fabric on the artificial banyan tree structure.
