During a recent inspection on June 24, forest officials discovered significant alleged violations on forest land within the buffer zone of the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve. Approximately 50 electricity poles and a substantial stockpile of stones were found situated outside the officially diverted area for a proposed Greenfield Airport project.
The inspection, conducted in the Jakhamund forest block, also noted a boundary wall near the airport site. Officials verified the location of the materials against the KML map of the diverted land, confirming they were within forest territory but outside the designated project area. No permits were secured for storing the stones or installing the poles.
Forest authorities have directed the issuance of notices to the responsible agency and intensification of patrolling to prevent further non-forestry activities. A green activist has labeled these actions a clear breach of the Forest Conservation Act, emphasizing the need for strict penalties to protect the tiger habitat.
