The 2026 Florida Python Challenge is officially set to commence from July 10 to July 19, 2026. This annual event draws participants from across the nation to hunt invasive Burmese pythons, a significant threat to Florida's native wildlife and ecosystem. The competition not only offers substantial cash prizes but also plays a vital role in conservation efforts, particularly within the delicate Everglades.
Last year's competition saw record-breaking success, with 934 participants from 30 states and Canada removing a total of 294 pythons. The top hunter in 2025 successfully captured 60 pythons, earning the $10,000 Ultimate Grand Prize. For the upcoming 2026 event, participants must complete the required online training, as previous certifications will not be valid.
