Fireworks will be permitted for Florida's July 4th celebrations, as no statewide ban has been issued. Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson announced on June 23, 2026, that fireworks can be used, with exceptions for counties or local governments that have implemented burn bans. This decision comes despite a severe wildfire season, with over 2,440 fires burning more than 176,000 acres since January 1, 2026.
As of June 18, 2026, 88% of Florida was experiencing some level of drought, with some areas in extreme to exceptional conditions. Counties currently under a burn ban include Brevard, Charlotte, Collier, Desoto, Glades, Hardee, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Sarasota, and Seminole. Manatee County's ban, effective June 23, 2026, prohibits explosive compounds, sparklers, and open burning, though previously permitted public displays are still scheduled to proceed.
