Falcon Fledglings' Dramatic Debut: Crash-Landing Livestream Captivates Melbourne Fans

In a thrilling event for bird enthusiasts, three young peregrine falcons born atop a 35-story building in Melbourne's central business district have taken their inaugural flights. The trio, comprising two females and one male, fledged late last week, with their first flights livestreamed for the world to witness.

The last falcon took to the skies for the second time on Saturday, after a dramatic crash-landing the previous day. "After weeks of watching them grow on the 24-hour livestream, the peregrine falcon trio have finally taken their first flights over Melbourne CBD - with one young falcon opting for a dramatic crash-landing comeback before nailing a successful flight a couple of days later," the caption on the footage posted by Bird Life Australia stated.

Over the next few weeks, the fledglings will remain close to the city, with their parents continuing to provide them with food until they are confident enough to make their first hunt and venture out on their own. The peregrine falcon chicks hatched at the end of September and early October, captivating thousands of viewers tuning in to the livestream set up as part of the Victorian Peregrine Project.
